Our very own Andy Warhol...

i read an article by Suzy Menkes, an important fashion journalist, for vogue in which she spoke about the relatively new creative director of Moschino, an italian fashion house founded by franco moschino, and famous for its fun and colorful designs that have only gone wilder as years go by, not to mention the scandal that Jeremy Scott caused on the media this year.
Now the article stated how she finally understood that the joke was on us for not understanding the sense of humor that made the clothes he designed such a massive success in every sense: design, taste, meaning... and, i have to confess that it didn't make sense to me either, as a matter of fact, it didn't till' i found the resemblance of his story with the marvelous Warhol, and how, like warhol that challenged and mocked society by making the things that belong to the masses into art, and by that representing the reality of the time period he lived in, he challenged the set idea that fashion should be exclusive, thoughtful, new and "elegant". i consider jeremy an artist, he made the things that every fashion aficionado would think dull, unimaginative, and on top of that not at all tasteful, and made it into a thing we covet every season. he contrasted the reality the masses live in right now to that of the fashion world, what more shocking that a goddess like model wearing a dress that resembles both the chanel suit and a uniform from MC? like wharhol it was society which didn't understand him, and not viceversa, and the sooner we all try to understand jeremy, the faster we'll be able to enjoy his art.
i leave with just one advice: don't take life too seriously, for a life without fun is not a life,

Street style: the democratization of fashion

I have only been here on planet earth for 16 years, and interested in the fashion industry since i was about 14; here in latin america some say that ignorance is rude, so forgive my security when i speak of ideas that may only make sense to me...
Now picking up on the first idea, i have been cultivating my brain for a really short time, but i know my history, and i know for example that fashion was limited to aristocrats, leaders, queens and even kings(louis the XIV, the inventor of high heels), movie stars and musicians until lets say 50 years ago; lucky me i was born in the new era, women, and men, have now ditched the old rules and have imposed (thanks God!) capitalism and the rights to equal opportunities, at least in the western world, for men, women, poor, any kind of race...
I know, i know... right now you might think i'm totally wrong, fashion is still for the rich, or the spendaholics, but i look at the glass half full, yes, it is hard to get, but thats what makes it attractive (apart from the design quality and craftsmanship), and if you work hard enough, maybe some day you'll get to own them.
Now, this idea is represented in fashion weeks all over the world, by YES! street style(my favorite part of fashion). Why? well to me it is easy to explain, it is fashion walked in the streets you and me can walk through, fashion bought by individuals, and by people that have worked sweat and tears for it, they are not queens and kings, they are CEOs, bloggers, buyers... they don't only go to the défilés to have fun, they go to work for the clothes they'll wear to the next fashion week, you may think it all doesn't make sense, but to me it would make a perfect life...

From the outside

we are living in an bustling world, a volcano that is about to explode, the revolution, not against the old regimes that use to torment our ancestors, but rather against  ourselves, redefining the human race. The internet, the smartphones, the selfies, the ipads, and really any kind of… pads? what i’m trying to say is that everything has changed, and fashion is not behind, and as always people want to have a say on it, and i am no longer settling for an outside scope on this, i want to have voice in this fashion world that is growing at incommensurable speed, never the less, I’m still an outsider, one of the kids at the Christmas parade squeezing through the feet of the adults and still being so small I can only see the color of the pants of the orchestra.
I’m a 16 year old, so I don’t know if I have taste, or style, and certainly I can’t buy the things that we’ll be speaking about here, but, trust me I don’t only have an opinion…
Hope you’ll hear more about me in the future,
Hugs, N.G

P.S: unfortunately, as you’d expect any 16 Y.O I don’t own any of the pictures that I’ll be posting on the blog…
